Dorothy's Shoes

I made this for my daughter because she is a huge fan of "The Wizard of Oz." I thought it would be easy to animate a pair of shoes to click 3 times. I decided to check online to see if anyone else had the same idea. Someone did. Unfortunately I can't find a video of it on the Internet anymore. All I was able to find was this picture. The mechanism was crafted out of brass and worked very smoothly. What caught my eye was the way the shoes would tilt up in the back before clicking. I knew I had to do that on mine. I kept the mechanism simple but it did take a while to work out the timing. I added a music box that plays "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." On the side opposite the crank the wicked witch flys over the Emerald City after skywriting "Surrender Dorothy."
