I have videos of nearly all my automata now up on my site.
Here are some pictures of the piece "Ever Been to Stonehenge" in the "Art In Our City" exhibition. Two Easter Island guys having a very short conversation. Head on the crank side "speaks" and the other "answers." You know the question....can you guess the answer?
I have a piece in an exhibition entitled, "Art In Our City" and is at the Century building at 356 W Western Ave. The piece I have is called "Ever Been to Stonehenge." Unfortunately I don't have a picture of it to post but hope to get down to the show this week and get a few pictures. The exhibition runs from June 1 to August 20.
On August 3 I will have my work displayed in Grand Haven at their Sunday Art Market located at Chinook Pier next to The train. This will be the first time I will have multiple pieces on display. I'm looking forward to showing people my art and getting some feedback. Well this is my first post. This week I've been busy working on this web site trying to get it up and running. Next is a Facebook page. Besides the computer work I've been trying to finish up my Sweet Adeline automaton. Basically the same idea as the Barbershoppers but with the addition of a music box.. Below you can see the progress. I'm not that crazy about the helmet hair but I hope that when they are painted and maybe a bow or 2 they might look a bit more attractive. Here's a look from behind. The music box is connected to the smaller 10 tooth gear that drives the larger 20 tooth gear. This is the first time I made 2 gears that mesh at right angles. It worked well. You can see the cam "hills" that will drive the push rods to activate the mouths. The music box plays, "You are my sunshine."
